There are three simple activity ideas, each linking to one of the three themes explored in the interactive stories - Energy, Forces and Materials - and are intended as a fun extension element or follow up to the stories.
The 'Marbling' activity accompanies the story A Drop of Oil and involves using oil and water to create marble paper.
The 'Slipping' activity accompanies A Slippery Day and involves investigating how different surfaces/textures affect friction and therefore the speed of an object.
The 'Make Your Own Handprint' activity accompanies the story What am I? and involves combining different, man-made materials to make their own handprint.
The activity ideas provide basic 'how to' guidance for the practical activities and are designed for use by teachers who may be busy or less confident with science and for parents with little subject knowledge. However, any of the School Power resources can be used with as much flexibility as is desired. Ideas are given as a stimulus for the children to be able to explore a more experimental learning route, if preferred.
