This brand new, visually exciting, free online education programme is crammed full of interesting facts, interactive activities and fun experiments around the area of power.

It is designed to support National Grid employee volunteers throughout the UK in their engagement with schools. Besides providing material for them to deliver, it provides a wide range of free materials for you to use independently or as follow ups to their visits.

School Power aims to:

  • inspire and motivate children in learning about science and technology
  • introduce the fascinating world of 'engineering' around them - how things work and are used
  • engage young people, exciting the inventors, engineers, technologists and scientists of the future.

All the materials are totally free and carefully linked to the science curricula for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. They have been specifically developed for use on classroom interactive whiteboards, as well as personal computers. The resources are also designed to encourage child-centred learning and provide a stimulus that can be used flexibly with children of all abilities and learning needs.

National Grid volunteers around the UK are visiting schools to give assembly presentations or lead practical classroom science lessons based on these resources.
