National Grid ambassadors
We can help secondary schools by sending volunteer staff in schools to help with:
- explaining energy and the basic science of electricity and gas (in other words, direct help with GCSEs);
- explaining engineering careers, in particular helping to get rid of the stereotypical myth that jobs in engineering are just for boys;
- explaining the future of energy. (There will be a huge change in the way energy is produced and used during current students’ lifetimes.) We start with this being a science and engineering problem, but can also explore the social and political efffects of this issue, links to geography, economics and PSHE (Personal Social Health & Economic education) topics.
