HELP

For assistance with downloading and installing the necessary software to view Flash or PDF files, please visit the site Accessibility section.

Run your file as an EXE/a stand-alone Flash application

Visit the Assembly Presentations page (volunteer login required) and choose the link marked "Download EXE as ZIP" for the presentation you wish to run. For your convenience, EXE files available from this site are compressed into files with the extension .ZIP, which can be opened in one of the following ways:

  • Computers running Microsoft Windows XP or later have native support for unzipping files; just double-click the downloaded ZIP file and drag the enclosed, compressed files to a new folder on your desktop
  • Mac users running OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later have native support for unzipping files; double-clicking the file will create a folder in the same directory containing the decompressed files
  • Windows users can download the free, open-source 7-Zip for Windows or the
evaluation version of WinZip, both of which will open ZIP files.

The ZIP files contain both the stand-alone Flash player and the executable EXE application, along with everything else the presentation or interactive requires to run. All files within the ZIP file must be extracted intact, preserving the folder structure.

Running presentations in Flash from the Web

Flash presentations should open in a new tab or window and should open centred on your screen. Windows users can press F11 (in most browsers including Firefox and Internet Explorer) to enable/disable fullscreen mode.

When playing assembly presentations in Flash, click on the opening slide before using your keyboard to navigate through the slides. You can use the space bar, left/right arrow or Page Up/Page Down keys.

Viewing Adobe Reader PDF files in fullscreen mode

Adobe Reader PDF files can be viewed in fullscreen mode via the following procedures:

  1. In Firefox 2 and above, press the F11 key to take you into and out of the fullscreen mode
  2. In Adobe Reader press Ctrl + L to show the fullscreen mode
  3. Note that fullscreen mode in Internet Explorer is not available when viewing PDFs
