OPPORTUNITIES
Delivering the School Power programme should be a really rewarding experience for the volunteer. Most schools appreciate business support, giving pupils a fresh and stimulating experience that really adds value to their learning. By using your knowledge, skills and experience, you will be able to ignite the children's imaginations. It's also a great way to help your local community, boost your own professional development and have fun too!
There are lots of different ways you can get involved as a School Power Volunteer:
- Giving a School Power assembly presentation - stimulating children's interest in power by giving a bright lively slide presentation to one or more classes, or even to the whole school, which can inspire pupils to carry out further research at home or in the classroom or take on the School Power activities themselves.
- Leading or supporting a School Power lesson - using the School Power resources to teach inspiring science lessons with a class. This could be done as an individual or in partnership with one or more other volunteers. You could take the children through a fun interactive story or an engaging slide presentation to introduce the topic and stimulate ideas. Then guide the class through practical activities, talking over what they've seen and heard.
